HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 10
(By Delegates Walker, Perry, Pino and Staggers)
Requesting that bridge number 8-11-0.01 (BARS Number 08A118),
crossing Elk River on W. Va. Route 11 at Clay, West Virginia,
in Clay County, and locally known as the new Dundon Bridge, be
named the "Veterans Memorial Bridge".
Whereas, The Clay County Commission met November 12, 2008 with
a quorum present and passed a resolution to have the Dundon Bridge
renamed the "Veterans Memorial Bridge"; and
Whereas, A large number of Clay County men and women have
served in the nation's armed forces; and
Whereas, Several Clay County veterans have been wounded or lost
their lives in military service; and
Whereas, The citizens of Clay County wish to honor the memory
of its many veterans with a fitting memorial; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the Division of Highways is hereby requested to name
bridge number 8-11-0.01 (BARS Number 08A118), crossing Elk River on
W. Va. Route 11 at Clay, West Virginia, in Clay County, and locally
known as the new Dundon Bridge, be named the "Veterans Memorial
Bridge"; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Commissioner of the Division of
Highways is hereby requested to erect signs at both ends of the
bridge containing bold and prominent letters proclaiming the bridge
the "Veterans Memorial Bridge"; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates
forward a certified copy of this resolution to the Clay County
Commission, Clay, West Virginia, and a certified copy to the
Commissioner of the Division of Highways.
